BORAGE

Butterflies love this hairy upright annual with hollow stems.  A dense plant with dainty spikes of pretty blue five petalled flowers in summer which gives rise to the plant's other name 'Star Flower'.  Strongly scented, the leaves and flowers have a smell and taste of fresh cucumbers.  Plant around a favourite relaxing spot to attract butterflies and bees.  Excellent companion plant for strawberries.  Young fresh borage leaves have a high concentration of vitamin C.  Flowers and leaves make a tasty addition to salads and drinks.

CATNIP

Passionately loved by cats, catnip provides a constant supply of highly aromatic foliage with white flowers.  Sniffing the foliage's minty scent produces playful behaviour and a happy almost trance-like state in cats.  It is a healthy stimulant and cats suffer no ill effects.  In fact it can be used as a positive training aid by sprinkling it on a new bed or in places you want your cat to go.

CATMINT
Whether in a container or in the garden this attractive plant has lavender blue flowers and blue-grey foliage from late Spring to late Autumn.  All parts of the plant have a penetrating mint-like odour liked by cats.  Cats become seriously silly around catmint, playing in the plants and eating young leaves as one of nature's dietary treats.  A tough, undemanding pretty garden perennial.
